Hello Vehicle Art Lovers!
Apologies for a year of silence and no newsletter or blog posts. I must confess. 2023 was a doozy for our family. It was one of those years that tests your patience, faith, and makes you wonder how much you can take. We had extensive ice storm damage to cars/home, my husband was laid off for months and had health issues, we foster failed with an abandoned puppy, our other 3 legged rescue needed expensive care along with a leg brace and wheelchair, and our only kiddo moved across country. These were just a few the low lights for 2023. Thankfully, we made it into 2024, and I'm smiling once again. WHEW!
BIG NEWS!
First, 5 of my paintings were digitally included in the Lunar Codex Moon project and landed on the Moon 2/22/24 (thank you Dr. Samuel Peralta, 33 Contemporary, Didi Menendez, Intuative Machines, NASA, and Space X). My work stands with over 35,000 other creatives that contributed pieces of art, music, film, literature, television and podcast shows. It is such an honor to have my 5 paintings digitally included in this historic first commercial landing. A contemporary time capsule for future generations to appreciate. It is also the first project to have women artists included. Such a thrill!
Second, I have my 5th solo exhibition opening on March 1, 2024 from 5:30-8pm. It will be at the Grand Bohemian Gallery, St. Augustine, Florida. I'll be debuting 7 new paintings including my Volkswagen Samba Kombi Bus - Sealing Wax Red
shown here. If you are in northern Florida on March 1, I'd love for you to drop by the gallery and say Hello. I will also be at Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance photographing new subjects for future paintings.
OTHER NEW:
My paintings are now represented by 11 galleries in the United States and United Kingdom.
I am now part of the Women's Automotive Network, and will be visiting Detroit in June. I will also be meeting with one of my favorite museums to photograph for future paintings. Stay tuned for that!
My 6th solo exhibition will be in September at the Grand Bohemian Gallery, Charleston, North Carolina. As of this writing, I have several new paintings started for this exhibition with a whole new, large scale series in my head. I look forward to returning from Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance with images to create even more paintings.
RECENT MEDIA:
To all my collectors, galleries, and followers: THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for enjoying my work and sharing it with others. Last year I created 10 (usually create 25-30 in a year) paintings. I'm hoping that 2024 gets me back to
MANY new pieces being revealed.
Happy Spring! Please reach out should you have questions about commission work or painting availabilty. - Shan
