1954 Cadillac Fleetwood
Time to break out the magnifying glass! If you look through my paintings, you'll see that I like to paint large. One reason is that I paint with a combination of my fingers, palms, and brushes. I like working on a larger canvas so I can smear paint and get messy. Smaller paintings are a big challenge for me as I have to change how I approach a work. Time to bring out the tiny brushes!
I photographed this Cadillac during the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance 2016. I was incredibly fortunate to have my first solo exhibition during the Concours, but snuck away for half a day to photograph the photos in the show. I will definitely be painting this vehicle much larger in the near future at a different angle. I loved how there was so much going on in the bodywork reflections and chrome. This little guy was a challenge, but I loved painting it.
