1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster Fleetline Sportsman Sedan
I’ve always had a fascination for vehicles that feature wood as part of the body. I think adding that natural element gives the vehicle a more relaxed feel.
This vehicle caught my eye first for the wooden panels on the side, and then the phenomenal chrome grill. Upon closer inspection, I noticed the reflective dance of images visible in the blue body. What a fun and challenging painting this would be!
As the vehicle was so intricate and visually stimulating, I chose to down-play the floor and foreground. The focal point of this piece is this amazing car. There is a hint of the garage, surrounding vehicles, and lighting without being overpowering to the eye. I love the abstractness of the lighting and objects in the surface of this sedan.I wanted this vehicle to feel like it was driving right off of the canvas, and I hope that comes across. Another complex, but fun painting to capture onto canvas.
Colors used: Naples Yellow, Prussian Blue, Alizarin Red, Burnt Sienna & Umber, Titanium White, Phthalocynanine Green, Raw Sienna, and Paynes Gray.
