1951 Chevrolet Truck
“1951 Chevrolet Truck”, 48″x60″, mixed acrylic media including charcoal and ink, 1.5″ gallery wrapped canvas. 2016. Unframed.

One of my dream cars is a truck just like this 1951 Chevy. When I see one, I think of an era of good music, communities helping one another, and joy.

I saw this Chevy at a local Cars & Coffee event, and I knew immediately that it would be painted onto a large canvas. There was so much activity in the chrome, subtle reflections in the red body, and a look that spoke to my heart.

I wanted to paint the cheerful demeanor of the Chevrolet through bright reds, but also give a sense of the buildings, foliage, and people in the reflective center of this large piece. If I could choose a piece that really said “Shannon”, it would be this 1951 Chevrolet Truck. A bit of my personality went into this piece. We share a bit of chaos, cheer, and vibrant vitality. This painting makes me happy. I hope it does the same for others that see it.

NOTE: I had the honor of being a Featured Artist at the Austin Bergstrom International Airport (Jan-July 2016). This painting was also included in the 2017 Texas wide Art Hop exhibition.
